I bought the F15 one from eBay a couple months ago and idk what a few people are complaining about. It fits perfectly. Used to have the e70 version and it never fit the windshield fully. It's just not tall enough.

The F15 fits very tight and once you get used to how to install it, there is zero issues. I simply turn the rear view mirror slightly to one side and it plops in.

Maybe I'm Just used to having to do the same with my M5 with same designed sun shade.

I was contemplating getting the F15 version to have better fit, have had the E70 version for a long time which works OK..
But I realized that the E70 version with a bigger opening in the middle works great with my dashcam set up.
I might still buy an F15 version one of these days to try out. But I would have to cut out the center on it, to work with my set up.

I have a retractable one which attaches to the windshield with 3M tape. Will have to get you the brand name if interested (believe it ran about $60):

Maybe the design changed or something... got a pic? The center cutout was definitely too small for my mirror and it appeared to be too wide for my windshield too. I used to have an E90 and that OEM sunshade fit perfectly around the mirror and in the windshield with no slack or struggling to get the sunshade into place.

What's the part number on the one you got or do you have a link to the listing? That might be the key to figuring out if it is really the F15 one or not.

If you look at my thread, you can see where I cut and how it fits now. Used it all summer since the time I got it and it worked great.

My biggest issue before cutting it was messing with the mirror every single time to get it around it, I don't like having to readjust the mirror every time I drive after putting in the sunshade.

So I couldn't get my hands on the G05 one or the E70 version, both backordered. Talked to Turner Motorsport/ECS, and they still recommended the F15/F85 version even with the Driver's Assistance Package. Figured I would give it another try. It is not exactly easy to install, but once you move the mirror (which I do think is a pain) and it is installed you are right - it does fit pretty well. The plastic shrouds behind the mirror (which I assume are larger because of the DAP) do make it a pretty tight fit, but it does pretty perfectly fit the windshield so I think I'm going to stick with it and deal with the mirror annoyance.

Part of my issue could have been caused by the fact I ordered the first one on Amazon, but it was supposedly the OEM version. This one does seem a tad smaller so I wonder if I got a counterfeit one from Amazon. No way to know for sure now!

That would bug the hell out of me. But that's a personal opinion obviously. Don't have to do that on the E61, E53, E30, or E70. Not going to do it on the F15.

We continue to use our E70 one with good results after trying the F15 one and fighting with it for 5 minutes the first time we tried to use it.

Yeah.. I used to have an E90 and that OEM sunshade fit pretty perfectly, which is why I totally rejected the first time I bought the F15 version...

Covercrafts good stuff - do you have Drive assistant package?

Seems the oem isn't good for those with this option

I don't, but from the looks of it the cutout has plenty of room to accommodate for that

This is the one I use in my X5M. It does not fit perfect around the rear view mirror but it is acceptable to me. It fits well around the perimeter of the windsheid and will stay in place without the need to flip the visors down.

If you live in hot climate region, only thing which helps are sunshades put outside (on top of the glass).
The sunshades (in the car) are "nice to have -, but hardly help when it's very hot / sunny outside, as once the glass gets hot, it will be hot in the car.

It's going to be hot in the car whether you have a sunshade on it or not, it doesn't matter whether it's inside the car. The point is to protect the interior and reduce some of the heat.

The best solution is ceramic tint all around + a sunshade. But if it's 100 degrees outside, it's going to be hot as hell in the car no matter what haha

^ What he said. But with ceramic tint and the sunshade, I can verify interior temps are at least 20* F lower, sometimes more. That's with south Texas 105-110* exterior temps. So instead of being 150* in the car... it'll be a more manageable 110-120*.

100% agree. I have both my X5 and M5 with ceramic on the windshield. My M5 has the newer nanoceramic and it is even night and day difference between the temperature of the inside during the summer. Also helps the car cool down very quick.

Reduces another 5-10 deg with the oem sunshade which I run in both.

For those asking for part numbers I'll try and dig one up. Honestly don't remember where I ordered it from. I think it was eBay but it's certainly not "difficult" to twist the rear view mirror to one said so you can slide the cut out up and then leave it there. When I get back in I just pull the shade down and twist the mirror back to where I want it. Doesn't bother me since it's my wife's daily so whenever I drive it I have to adjust the mirror anyway.

I'm happy to hear you found a sunshade that worked for your F15 and that you have a bit of experience with the same style. It's definitely not the easiest thing to install, but once you get the hang of it, it can be a breeze. I'm sure other people who are still struggling to find the right sunshade for their F15 will appreciate your advice. You may also want to install additional shades to protect the backseats, something like these at https://snapshades.com/car-sun-protection-for-infants/. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!

bumping this oldie. Those that have the Autoheatshield, do you have the roll up or folding version? The roll up provides the most coverage, but I'm not really a fond of how much space it takes up (rolled up) when not in use.

I’ll chime in here that the OEM is still trouble free for us 8 years on.
