Vtg calibration, what it does?

Hi there,

I done a transfer case oil change recently after having vibration in issues, changing fluid didnt solve the vibrations so i installed ista and done a vtg calibration which took 2-3seconds and gave a message saying the readings where 0.4 in difference compared to old values,

Vibration is still there, only happens at very low speed 10-15mph.

My question is: does vtg calibration complete in a few seconds? Or ista made it look like it was calibrated but it actually wasnt?

And also what does a vtg calibration do?
Does it need to be done after changing tyres?

Thanks

No. It's for after changing the transfer case fluid. It adjusts the clutch friction force needed to lock up the TC from worn fluid to new fluid

The prop has a little bit of play but i dont know if its enough to cause the low speed shaking.

It doesn’t take long at all once you initiate the calibration. Less than 5 seconds if I remember correctly.

Are you experiencing a vibration or a judder? From my limited experience a transfer case issue feels more like a binding judder, like driving a 4x4 on dry pavement and turning the steering wheel. Not like a vibration. But I’m guessing each one can be different.

I just have slight vibration at 10-15 mph and it happens when im coasting or very lightly applying throttle.

Can the gearbox be causing it?
Also in low gear at low speeds when the gearbox is changed gear you feel a wobble shake in between the gear changes.
