Are KW V3 coilovers worth the price?

I’m looking to drop my x5’s suspension, but I can’t possibly see myself spending 3,500 on coilovers. At that point, you might be better off buying a new project car. But my question is if it’s really that good and if it’s actually worth almost 4 thousand dollars? I feel like going with eibach or acs is a better alternative although it doesn’t really drop it that much. The 15-20 mm drop with acs though is enough for me though, but I just wanted to see if the suspension with acs is really that bad when compared to KW V3. And again, I know the KW’s are overall the best and there is no suspension better than KW’s, but is it really worth the 4k???

IMO, its not worth it... but if you plan to go low you dont have many options. I ended up with the dinan springs.

I've ran coilovers on other cars. Great coilovers, but there are comparable options out there for the price. The markup on the X5M is strong.

if you need to slam your SAv then its the only option but remember you still are running air bags in the rear so its not perfect.

I was considering them. But the price and the fact that I have adaptive suspension made me decide against them. So far, very happy with ACS.

Thank you, I am looking for that drop that acs provides as it is not major, but just enough to make the fitment look a whole lot better. Thanks for letting me know that the acs is a good option 👍

Lowering springs and spacers should give you the stance you're after and for a relatively reasonable price. Otherwise you could go down the bigger wheels route but then we're talking big money if you go with a reputable brand.

Thank you. I’m not looking to slam my x5, as I don’t see the point in slamming a suv, but just trying to lower the car a little. Thank you, your reply helps a lot in deciding what to get 🙏

Thank you, I was looking a dinan also, but I think I will go with acs as the drop is a little bit lower and I heard the the drivability with acs is very good, a lot like dinan 👍

Yep, just looking to make the car a little more aggressive but not trying to slam it at the same time. I was also thinking about getting 22 inch rims, but I think I like the oem style wheels that already come with the X5M a lot. 😁

I’m actually surprised about the how the feedback in this thread favors springs over coilovers. Every thread I’ve read through where springs vs. coils were debated for the F85, favored coils, specifically KWs.

I’ve actually never even heard of acs for any M chassis. I have a brand new set of spacers I haven’t installed because I’ve been holding off until I made a decision on a lowering option. I thought I was sold on KWs, but would prefer respectably good springs solution. Looking forward to hear from more people on this.

i don't think we're saying springs are better. we're saying if you want to go low then kw is your solution. for a mild drop, going kw isn't worth the price tag. mild drop and springs will do the job. that's what we're saying

I put dinan Springs on my F85 along with 15/15 H&R spacers. Gave me the look I was after with no effect on ride quality that I can tell. I maintain the EDC so my wife can drive on comfort and when I want a bit more of an engaging ride I can still do that too. Lower obviously looks better but a good compromise for me especially given the huge price difference

Thank you, how much did the dinan drop your ride and do you have any pics?

I know, I didn’t suggest that anyone did. I simply said I was surprised by the number of people opting for springs because in other threads I’ve read most were vehemently against it for this chassis.

I too am only looking for a subtle drop to compliment some spacers for a more aggressive look. However, I also find the stock ride to be harsh at times so I want to address that as well and that’s why I was primarily targeting KWs.

I’m interested in what others have to say about ride quality between stock and these acs springs.

I have kw and if is install right the ride is awesome! To install these you should go to a KW certified installer. Unfortunately I learned the hard way but all good now!

Would love to have some KW’s, but I only just turned 17 so I need to get my money up during summer break before school starts up again so I can be able to afford them 😭😭

I will be very honest with you. I had an E70 X5M pushing about 740 hp that car would out handle a Porsche. It makes a world of a difference. Especially if you go with KWV3- I ended up buying another one and the first thing I did is put KWV3 on it now I’m moving to F 85 and I guess we’ll see I have a feeling it will be the same effect but I believe F 85 suspension is a bit better especially 15 mm wheel spacers in front and back. Also help and make the car look better. Wider track better handling. Also had adjustable camber’s adjustments on it to make it more precise
