M Package vs Msport?

I have the M package but no exterior badging, and nothing under the hood.

Just what is the difference?

I mean I have all of the adjustable tirods and shock stuff the Msport has...

About all I have for badging is the steering wheel and the door sills.

What is included in the BMW M Sport package? It varies slightly from car to car but, generally, a BMW M Sport model will feature more sculpted bumpers and other exclusive styling features and a scattering of M badges inside and out.

M-package and MSport can sometimes be used interchangeably depending on the model and/or a specific option pkg that utilizes items from the M-parts bin.

Neither term refers to an M model (ie M3/M5/M6/M8/X5M/X6M/etc). A real M model will have an "S" designated engine.

The M-sport pkg or MSport will again, just include some stuff from the M-parts bin, and may offer blacked out trim and possibly some cosmetic changes like aerodynamic bumpers and sporty exhaust & tail pipes, and special wheels w/M decals or 3-spoke M steering wheel...and these offerings are for a lesser model (a non M model in the platform line up).

Also, the badges offered on an MSport or M-package can vary from market to market.

The term 'M package' is thrown around this forum a lot lately. Hard to say what that is, it could be interpreted a few different ways.

There's an 'M Sport' package, this is how it's titled in the BMW X5 order guide. This was an optional package for the 35i, 35d, 40e, & 50i models. It's purely cosmetic, there is nothing 'under the hood' and no additional performance upgrades. Different body kit (front and rear bumpers, side skirts, painted wheel arches), different wheel options, M steering wheel (still different from the X5M steering wheel), M door sills, shadowing exterior trim, anthracite headliner, etc. As well, the brake setup on M Sport models is no different from xLine and entry level turd spec models, despite many people here who think they have special brake parts on their M Sport. And thankfully no exterior badging (aside from the small ///M badges on the wheels) as it's not a real M car.

And there are no 'adjustable tirods and shock stuff' on the M Sport. If you're referring to the adaptive M suspension or DHP (dynamic handling package), you could option those on non M Sport models, they are not special to your M Sport.

Aside from the M Sport package on the regular X5, there's the X5M, which is a separate model altogether, not a 'package.'

Don’t forget the “coveted” M emblem on the front fender that many Canadian models get with the sport pkg that is left out of the US sport pkg.

Actually, should make things a bit more clear.

The MSport TRIM is what changes the bumpers, rims, steering wheels, suspensions etc and was available starting from 2015 n so on.

The M appearance PACKAGE is what added the front lip, side skirt stickers, rear bumper flaps, lip spoiler, n the 2 M badges posted above. Everything in this "package" was available around 2017, sold as individual pieces as an aftermarket dealer add on. By around 2018 or so, it was made available as an "add on package".
