M-DCT info from Sweden

Hello!

My first post and some exiting news! I just talked to my dealer and he confirms he now has been able to select M-DCT in the Dealer Configurator. The product code is 2MK. However, he still has no price, and he is unsure if this will affect my current build slot in March 08. He will have more info for me at the end of the week!

He said 2MK became available in the configurator yesterday.

This seems to confirm the production start in March. After keeping it so long as a secret, the only reason for BMW to activate it in the dealer ordering system is that people can order it now for production in March/April. If it wasn't available then, they could easily wait until after the official presentation in Geneva...

I still hope I will get my E92 with M-DCT in week 12

This seems like a def. Why no spy shots?
This has probably been the best camo job for BMW.
They are probably using a regualr 6-speed knob for now to diguise it.

In a picture of an M3 driving by you probably wouldn't see DCT and in a parked car it shouldn't be that difficult to cover the knob and the paddles...

So 'no spy pics' means nothing.

We saw the covered dash on spy photos from way back. Not so much recently.

My thoughts are... Obviously there must be something wrong with this new M-DCT system since they've been awfully quite and no spy-photos. Of course I do agree that there could be other reasons for no spyshots, but still... You would think there would be some as it's getting closer and closer.

I've also been thinking that BMW has been holding back the pricing for the M3 in US just because that they wanna release the price for M-DCT at the same time. Now... If there's something wrong with the M-DCT, they would keep the pricing quite in case they would need to exchange any parts which might take the price for this gearbox up.

Just a couple of thoughts without facts, you may now begin to flame me haha

The M-DCT tranny has always been expected to go into production in March 2008, so I dont think theres been any issues/setbacks with it

I think a more realistic assumption would be that BMW are still finalizing technical data such as where they feel comfortable setting shift times, launch settings ect. before they can do an appropriate press release and marketing..

I was under the impression that the first car with M-DCT would be driving around in March?

The price has already been set for M-DCT in Europe.
