Anyone use them for insurance? Looks compelling for those of us who drive less than 10k a year.

Realized people may have no idea what I'm talking about.

Here's the website: www.metromile.com

I checked it out and at a high level it sounds like it may be a cool concept. Unfortunately it's not available in my state.

I have a 2nd car that I bought for my dog. Something like this would be perfect since I put maybe 100 miles a month on it.

Just because they charge by the mile doesn't mean it's that much cheaper. Also, I don't like that they are tracking you all the time.

Yeah, you can turn off gps so they don't track your location. When I went through the estimate, said I'd save $700/yr! Also, miles are capped at 150/day, so anything over that you don't get charged. Good for my trips to SoCal.

I signed up for this and have been using it since the end of last year. Pretty good customer service so far, and I got a $50 amazon giftcard for signing up. I don't put a lot of miles on the car, so this saves me hundreds compared to my old insurance policy.

Haven't had to make a claim yet, but so far so good. The app/website seems pretty well made too.

Yep...bought an old car I can put my dog in and use it for 'dog' related activities. She doesn't get in the M3.

I would say they're also used to pick up hookers, but there's plenty of room in the e9x trunk.
