M3 G power SKll as DD

Hi guys

I'm about to trade in my E91 330dA with 330hp/700nm with a M3 Gpower tuned with Eisenmann exhaust.
I drive aprox 200km a day where aprox 130-140km is on highways, and wonder if I might be on the edge of making a mistake.
My diesel is quiet, and is Actually quick enough for me.

Any recommendations? Pros? Cons?

I daily drive a SKII CS with an Eisenmann race, honestly it does get annoying at times during stop and go traffic during my 30 minute commute. Makes a lot of useless noise. On an open stretch of road city to city is another story

Seriously, recommend you to drive on your daily commute and see if it is for you or not.

Is the Eisenmann a sport or race model? Was the OEM cross-pipe changed too? I experienced terrible interior bass until mine was swapped out.

Actually I don't know which kind of Eisenmann exhaust it is or if the X-pipe is changed also.
I'm going for a test drive tomorrow. And it is way off my normal rute and I don't expect the sales guy to let me go more than aprox 30 minutes. Not enough to find out if it's too loud....
Hmm....my stomach tells me to keep the diesel but my head says M3. Also because it's a really bargain. Lease for aprox $1000 a month where std M3's here cost well over $1100 a month....

Would be it out of line to keep both cars? Then you can use the M3 as a weekend car.

It would GREAT to have both cars, but not an option for me for economical reasons.
Denmark is NOT a car friendly country in general so I had to pay aprox $50.000 for a well used 5 year old E91 330dA and still have some payments to pay before its mine. So not an option to keep both

Downside of the G-Power SKII is the fuel consumption ,compared to your 330D the fuel costs would be at least x 2 !
I'm thinking also on our bearings knowing that the SKII runs with about 600HP and in your situation as DD , and this car will drone with the Eisenmann .
But it's for sure the SKII is really a wow performance car , this car is really fast !

Good point on the maintenance P-B!
Bearing every 70K KMS and Plugs every 30K KMS (close to $100 each)

G-Power maintenance sheet (hope this is ok to do so)

G-Power has a service package for all of the different services.
The bearing one is $3700 all included.
Quite a lot of money every 70.000km.
I asked for this car specific, and was advised to change them already after 57.000km since I didn't know how the car had been driven.
So....Start on the lease I had to pay aprox $21.000 including 1 year insurance and then services for aprox $5.500.
No need to say I keep my diesel......

Yeah Euro prices are insane !
This car and mods in the US was - 40 % of the price .
But like I sad above...The more power => The more $$$$$.
BTW...You forgot the insane yearly driver taxes ! =>

Hi, I have M3 Gpower since over 1 year, I have driven 30k kilometers on SK1 and than I have upgraded it into SK2.

I use it for daily driving, but "my daily" means 300-400km weekly - for this distance is so perfect car, no failures no damange no nothing, and it's fast - very fast.

Quite not long time ago GPower gave an software update and right now my SK2 has 616hp.

Based on racelogic:
100-200: 6.2s
100-250: 11.6s
100-300: 22.2s

FuelConsumption:
combined: 15l/100km but You can probably do less, becuase I often get to the rev limiter

My car has 77k km, and last week I have replaced rod bearings, they were still ok - If you maintain you car well - and You frequent change your oil - You don't have to worry about bearings.

And they are not so expensive as Gpower says, I paid about 1k euro for new parts with labour.

Also sparks, they are expensive but I found them directly from japan and paid about 50euro each.

My advice is, if you are driving 200km DAILY... stick with the diesel - and get SK2 for weekends

I already took that decission.
I will keep my diesel. It's ok fast to my driving. Really nice and smooth, almost no noise driving.
So I will keep my diesel. The other one could have been fun for a while. Im just not sure I could live with it to be a dd car.
You car sounds pretty quick to me :-)

Thnx for your input

M3 will not be your best choice.

If you really want a M3 but wouldn't be wise to daily drive it. Why not do what most people do and get some 50mpg+ VW golf (or something else) for the daily and keep the M3 as your weekend toy.

i would switch to 3.20d, they get great gas mileage. in M3 you would have to fill up every other day.

The plan of having 2 cars would be nice if Denmark wasn't such a Car Unfriendly country.
We pay 3 times the amount for our cars compared to other European countries.
And the roadtax, insurance and fuel is NOT cheap either.
And then....walking past the M3 every morning to drive to work in something else would work a few days, and then I wouldn't be able to walk past it......

Hello fellow Dane!

I swapped my 2011 X3 30D (258 bhp) for a 2011 M3 DCT recently, missing the M too much. The X3 did 9.5 l/100 km and the M3 is at 12.5 l/100 km, this at 150 kph cruising. Not too bad, and it is my DD even if I only use it for long distance motorway driving. Worst part is going from a 650-700 km range to 450 km but better than my previous E60 M5 400 km!

Hej Anders

Hvad laver du i Belgien?
