Vbox tested RaceChip today on the X5M

Perfect day. High Baro, 70F perfect for making power. Ran the test back to back. 1st run pure stock. 0-60 in 3.90 seconds, 0-100mph in 9.4 seconds 1/8th mile run 7.9 at 91mph.....very, very close to most of the published stock runs of the X5M.

Turned around and did not cool the car off. Just plugged in the RaceChip (was already on the car with the bypass plug in it for the stock pass) and went back to the same spot after driving it 15 miles. 0-60 in 3.60 seconds, 0-100mph in 8.60 seconds, 1/8th mile 7.7 at 94.4 mph. This thing is killer. Smooth as stock but more power. Ben at RG Sports really came through with this box !

Isn't the Racechip module well under $1000?

Is it a piggy back system? Plug and play?

Not discounting DINAN and others, but why do they cost so much more?

If you promise to pay my bail....lol....

I've been racing for 35 years so I can give you a very close comparison at a sea level track on a good air day (like today)

A 7.9 at 91mph run is roughly 12.30 at 112-113 mph.

A 7.7 at 94mph is roughly 11.90 at 116-117 mph.

That's at sea level on a cool day. Go to Bandimere in the summer and your feelings will get hurt.

Yes and yes.

I have used Dinan, BMS and RaceChip.

Dinan is still on the wife's 35i. It is very high quality, makes great power and is very smooth. Comes with a vehicle adder warranty so if something breaks and the dealer denies warranty, Dinan will pay.

RaceChip is very high quality, makes great power and is very smooth. Easy to install. I'm keeping it.

You'll get more overall power from a flash tune but I'm not willing to go that far.

It's not like Dinan will honor their warranty in AUS anyways. RaceChip it is for you.

That's right. I can understand the higher cost for the DINAN product as it includes that warranty.

However being that i'm outside of the US, it seems pointless to pay that premium.

The difference between vendors is ridiculous, and DINAN are the only one with an excuse as far as I'm concerned.

OnfireX5,
What are your M settings? (i.e., is MDM off/on, using launch mode, shock settings, etcetera?)

Thanks!

onfireX5 bet you could of gotten faster time if you had ran the RC first and then put the bypass for stock run =D
Because since you and I (did the same mistake) ran bypass first, then it resets a bit and I believe it could take a few more miles to re-learn the new boost

And whoever said RC cost $1000 lol, it doesn't cost more than $680

I always helping out. That's why I am here, right?
I am just a PM away.

To answer your question, I would provide warranty like Dinan if you would like to pay me Dinan's price on the RaceChip Ultimate.
Not discounting Dinan's product quality since I am also their reseller.
Of course the term and condition would be the same or similar to the Dinan.

Actually did that on purpose. I wanted "stock" to have the most advantage and the RC only had 15 miles of driving to let the strims to set the ltrims. You are right....the RC will get stronger with more miles on it. I really like the quality and the smoothness of the RC.

That's fantastic for something so affordable. Wow. Anyone got more details on racechip? I'll search the forums but curious what pros/cons folks feel are for it versus other tunes (minus the warranty bit which is already covered, of course). Thanks

Here's some info:
http://www.rgsportshop.com/index.php...product_id=796

https://www.racechip.com/racechip-ultimate/

Ben from r33_RGSport is a great guy to deal with. He'll give you money back if you don't like RaceChip.

The biggest advantage of RaceChip over others is it uses a very high power processor, it's completely digital. Others use analog resisters to manipulate the signal to the ECU.

I wonder how similar ActiveAutowerke8 is to RaceChip, i know AAA8 installation is more complex because they plug into camshaft but the results I hear are the same.

Also onfireX5 this was just RaceChip on its stock setting right?
Imagine a few other higher settings, since stock is pretty conservatively (not as bad as Dinan lol)
