How to get all doors to unlock?
Hi all,
Could someone tell me how to make all my doors unlock when I shut off the car? Presently it only unlocks my drivers door. I have scrolled through everything and can't seem to find the answer. Thanks. |

Yea, it’s aggravating. I don’t think guy can. I just turned the lock while driving feature off because I got tired of passengers yanking the shit out of the handle.

In iDrive go to vehicle settings > doors/keys > select all doors.

As far as having the all the doors unlock while driving and coming to a stop/park I'm not so sure that's a good idea. I'd rather have control of my doors rather than have all doors unlock automatically.

Why are you shutting off the car and unlocking the door? Anyhow I just tried to recreate what you are describing just now. I went into my garage and unlocked all doors by grabbing my door handles. I started the car and drive around the block came back and parked, shut off the car, locked the car and then few seconds later unlocked all doors again.

I understand what OP is saying.
Let's say settings are set to "lock after starting to drive". Ok....so now we're in D and all the doors are locked. OP gets to the store and parks. Once in P, it only unlocks the drivers door. The passengers in the back pull the handle and expect to get out. They can't. They have to pull the handle again. Picking someone up? You have to hit the unlock button so they can get in from the outside. It's super annoying. The F25 I had before wasn't like this. So now, I have the feature of "lock after starting to drive" turned OFF...because I got tired of passengers tugging on the handle. I'll give you another example where this sucks. My 10 month old is in the back seat. Say I'm dropping him off to my parents. I park, leave it running, go around to his door to get him out, and his door is locked. I have to walk back to the drivers door and hit the unlock button. |

Maybe mine is coded but on my f15 when I park the passengers in the back seat can pull the handle once to open the door and not the usual pull twice to open on my previous BMW's.

Put the car in park. Leave it running. Get out. And go try to open another door. It won't let you. The other 3 doors are locked. That's OP's complaint.

True...but women normally leave their keys in the purse. I just turned the locking feature off.

This does seem like a bit of a practical blunder on BMW's part. All my other vehicles have never had this issue. Oh well, life is tough and I'll just have to roll with the punches ;-) |

With coding I have set the doors to unlock at ignition off only if they were locked by car and not by the driver.
This is done by coding either of the following values in BDC BODY VAM_UNLOCK_KL15OFF_AFTER_PIA_AUTO_LOCK CLI_DEFAULT_UNLOCK_AFTER_END_OF_DRIVING |

I appreciate the input but I have no idea how to do that stuff (I'm too old - or maybe just too lazy), and from what I've read, I'd need to get some sort of software to accomplish this... I've got enough going on now that doesn't always get done, so I probably will just unclick the "lock when starting to drive" feature and be done with it. I don't have little kids riding with me so I don't feel I need it anyway. Thanks.

Yes for coding you need adapter and app at the least. |
