Black CA license plates on a lease?!

Anyone successful in getting them? Did you have to get permission from BMW FS?

You can get it, don’t need BMW FS approval.

If you have AAA, go with your new plates(both front and rear) they can exchange to black plate. But if you wants personal black plate, register at DMV and wait for half year until they send you the notice when it's ready on your selected local DMV, you make an appointment which about another month and go dmv with two plates for half hr wait even you have an appointment. That's about 7 months process.

I ordered my personalized plates online and they were ready 2 months later. Also, didn't make an appointment for DMV. Just walked in in the afternoon waited for about an hour to pick up my plates.

I believe you can't personalize it if it's a leased car. They didn't let me do it back then with me.

Yes, you can. I'm leasing and have the personalized legacy plates. When I was picking them up, they didn't ask if it was a lease or not.

For personalize plates, go through AAA and have them sent to your local AAA office. No lines and better customer serivce. Mine took 3 months though cause the inmates making them were on strike. (no joke!)

Any experience with getting a new lease and trying to keep the old personalized plates? Was sent new plates from DMV, sent papers to have old personalized plates replace the new ones, and crickets for 4+ weeks..

Same, bring your new plates and old plates to AAA or DMV, they will swap it for you
