Fixed - rattling noise on lane departure wheel shake

Thought I’d post the pictures of what caused the issue on at least 3 of my bmws. I had it fixed in my m5 by the dealer, but after finding out it was just a sticker causing all the noise, I fixed it myself this time and snapped a couple photos. The noise sounded like something was broken or loose inside, but apparently it’s just the part sticker on top of the motor being hit by the weight as it rotates.
As seen in other posts, remove the airbag using a tool of sorts to press the clips in on each side, then remove 3 torx screws that hold the m sport steering wheel trim on (two inside the airbag area, one under the wheel on back side), then the motor is clearly visible. Remove the sticker and reinstall the trim and airbag. Nice and quiet again!

I've seem many parts where the stickers are put on there in such a fashion you have to wonder what's the damn rush.

Had to do this after swapping to ///M alcantara version. Thought I didn't snap the motor back in properly. The way it sounded and felt didn't seem possible it's just that sticker but I'm glad it was.

I agree... I thought the dealer was full of it on my m5, and I just turned off the lane departure on my last x5 thinking it would be a ton to fix.
Stupid sticker!
