Tire Load Index for X5
I'm in the market on purchasing a set of square 22x10.5 wheels basically so i can rotate the tires and tire size 295/30 103Y all around. My current 19's are equipped with 250/55 107H size tires.
I've seen many staggered setups for the f15 with 295/30 in front and 335/25 rear but the load index on the 335/25 is 105Y. My question is will I have issues with the new tire load index of 103? My concern is more on the rear tires. I won't be towing or adding any heavy cargo on the daily. I do have the 3rd row, so occasionally will pack the 3rd row with a child. |

I am running a square 285/35/22 all round on 10.5" rims so I can rotate the tires as well. The load index is 106 W XL so I think your selection would be fine.

106 is approx 50lb decrease in load capacity per tire from OEM load index of 107.
103 will be roughly 220lb decrease in load capacity per tire. Looks like a pretty big difference no? |

After much research, rear 103 load index gets a
Taken from the manual: Maximum tire load Divide the tire load by 1.1. It must be greater than one-half of the vehicle’s Gross Axle Weight. Divide tire load by 1.1 103 load index = 1929 lb 1929/1.1 = 1749x2 = 3498 lb GAW = 6329 lb Half GAW = 3164 lb

Hey beammeupscottie, tried to PM you but your inbox is full. Quick question if you don’t mind... saw an old post that you had purchased a set of square 22x 10.5 and mounted 295/30 tires all around. Did you ever have any issues with the tires specifically the rears?
Thanks in advance.

Didn't have any issues with the tires but the wheels by Vossen were garbage. They made a humming noise that Vossen nor BMW nor the sales center could figure out; they ended up removing them after 2 months and refunding the money. |
