OEM air filter vs "Amazon" Mann filter
I'm going to place the air filter on my 2016 X5. It looks like I can get a OEM filter for 30 something dollars but I'll have to either have it shipped from a BMW parts supplier or I can pick it up at the local dealer I also noticed a generic filter on Amazon for 17 bucks. It's made by MANN.
Has anyone use these? It's easier to just get it via Amazon and save a few bucks or is there some difference between this and OEM?

Personally I feel better ordering from a place like FCP Euro than Amazon. But yes you can get the same brands for a lot less than OEM.

^^^This, there are many knockoffs and different suppliers that go through different quality control for instance a few years back there was a batch of F30 made in mexico mann oil filters that felt more brittle than the made in germany ones you'd get from authorized vendors this was heavily discussed with comparisons at bobtheoilguy.com.

For sure, getting even non BMW filter is always better from trusted supplier of your choice. I personally would never trust E-bay for parts for example.
