If you are talking about HPFP there is one on each side behind air box. This video is for X5 50i which use same pumps

If you are looking for the electric fuel pump control, it is under the back seat. You pull up on front of seat bottom on both sides 2-3 inches in from sides to release the cushion. The back edfe of cushion is tucked under the seatbacks and I think one of the seatbelt latches may have to be fed through the seat bottom upholstery hole. The area under seat has a foam insert you remove by undoing the 4 bolts/screws that hold the braces and the module is on left side secured to floor next to the fuel pump access port. The power supply module for engine management system is at rear passenger bulkhead under the cabin air filter housing. I'm not sure the fuel pump feed is from there or from the electrical stuff beside/behind glove box. I don't have any pictures, sorry.

X5 F15 3rd Row 7-seater fuel pump control module location?

My X5 stalls within a few minutes after exiting to local from driving on a freeway for more than 30-45 minutes. I did some research and it seems others with a similar problem may end up replacing the fuel pump control module. I have difficulty finding the location of the fuel pump control module for my X5 which has 3 rows of seats. Does anyone know?? Any pointer is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Assuming that you're asking info for a regular f15 X5 35i (this is the F85/F95 X5M/X6M forum)...see info below for F15.

See A98 in illustration below:
(appears to be located below the rear seat (1st row))
Functional description

The EKPS control unit is connected via PT-CAN or PT-CAN2 (depending on the series).

The engine control unit calculates the required fuel quantity based on the driver's choice and the operating condition of the motor at that particular time. The required total quantity is sent as a message to the control unit of the electronic fuel pump control module (EKPS) via the bus. This message is converted by the control unit into a pulse-width modulated output voltage. For this purpose, the characteristic curves for the fuel requirements are stored in the control unit. The characteristic curves are coded for the specific motor and model.

There are 2 types of controls:

Speed control (load)

The control unit controls the speed of the electric fuel pump with a pulse-width-modulated output voltage (PWM signal). In this way the delivery is precisely matched to the requirements.

The actual speed of the electric fuel pump is evaluated as follows: The current flow at the fuel pump exhibits a certain ripple. The ripple corresponds to the number of segments of the commutator (= the number of armature windings of the electric motor). Per rotation, the number of current pulses is equal to the number of segments. This value is used to calculate the actual speed of the fuel pump.

Pressure control

The motor control evaluates the pressure in the fuel feed to the motor via a fuel low-pressure sensor. By means of a nominal/actual value comparison of the pressure, the motor control system sends a request signal to the control unit of the electronic fuel pump control module that corresponds to a certain voltage for the electric fuel pump. The control unit of the electronic fuel pump control module controls the output voltage for the fuel pump by changing the pulse width modulation depending on the existing vehicle voltage. This ensures that the fuel pump power needed to develop the fuel pressure is only as large as necessary for the low pressure fuel system.

1. Control unit of the electronic fuel pump control module (EKPS)
2. Plug connection 16-pin, connection to the wiring harness
3. Plug connection 4-pin, connection to the electric fuel pump

Hi mosrock
I am having a similar issue with my x6. It will stall out at highway speeds especially on hotter days and I will have to wait a few minutes until the fuel pump kicks on again.

Did replacing the fuel pump control module fix your issue or was it something else?
