Recently picked up this all stock 2016 50i with 68k miles. The car had details of all maintenance records with nothing missed. Still, I wanted to check the overall health of the engine and trans by doing some dig and higher speed WOT runs to make sure it didnt throw a code.
I got the chance on empty roads and the 50i feels great and so everything appears ok. I have a dragy device and hooked it up for one of the dig runs. I did not use launch control. Just brake boosted in Sport Plus mode (didnt pull the shifter lever to the left which is required for launch control) and did a 0-60 mph in 4.57 seconds and 4.37 seconds with the 1-foot rollout, which is how all the universal tests are reported. I think I saw 4.7 seconds advertised by BMW. I'm sure if I tried a few more times and used launch control I might be able to drop it down to the 4.5 or even 4.4X second range. Not bad for 68k miles. I had a 2018 X5M and from what I recall it did 0-60mph in 4.38 seconds stock so the 50i is not far behind. I purchased a RaceChips GTS Black with the app for the X5M and was able to drop the 0-60mph to 3.8 seconds (3.58 with the 1-foot rollout). I can have RaceChips change the file for the 50i and then see what this can do. Goal would be to get as close as 4.0 as possible with the RaceChip only which would make it a little more fun if I ever want to drive it hard. I see there is a F15 tuned thread so I will post over there once I get the tune fitted. Cheers.
