Left Wing mirror hazey
Hi there,
I just wondered if anyone else had experienced a bad wing mirror on their 1er. It's hard to describe, but mine has a bad surface at the back, and in certain lights looks very hazey. I'll take it in for a warranty repair, but was waiting for my 2000km to get an oil change done as well. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this?

I have this on both of my outside mirrors. Only noticeable when the mirror is perfectly clean and even then only in certain lighting conditions, as you mentioned. Mine aren't bad enough to request a warranty replacement though.

Mine was a special order, and I tracked it pretty carefully, don't think mine was one of those.
Thanks for your feedback, I'll let you know in a few weeks when I get it replaced. (Almost finished my running in !!)

I've got this on my driver's side.
Have any of you guys replaced the mirror covers with the Carbon Fiber ones? I did, and I thought maybe I had damaged the glass somehow in the process, but now it seems it's common. I guess I'll mention it to the dealer when I get the oil change. |

To finish this thread.
So I finally got my low-kms oil change done, and booked into get the mirror done too, of course, when I took the car in the dealer didn't have the mirror in stock (as they promised me they did), so had to wait another two weeks for a new mirror. It finally arrived this week, the dealer wanted to install it in 3 or 4 weeks. I drove in today, unclipped the mirror myself, convinced them it would take 20 seconds to clip on the new one, and low and behold ... a nice shiney new mirror on my 128i. Yay !! No more hazey rear views, all covered at no cost under warranty. It's the little things that count  If you are interested, the rear view mirrors are glued to a 2-3" round clip arrangement, to remove them, just put something plastic behind the glass and gently lever against the wing mirror surround, and they pop off (take care not to drop it !!). There are 4 wires with a connector that provides the lighting for the automatic dimming rear view if you have it, it just pulls straight out, and voila.
