Help with insurance
Need to renew my policy. I've attached my renewal quote with Amica. I'm currently paying $2,043 per year, and this $400 discount is due to the fact that it's finally been 3 years since my license suspension (underage drinking in college in PA will do that FML) and it no longer counts against me. $1,643 was the quote they gave me last year to begin with before they found out about the suspension
I'm unhappy about how expensive it is and about the $1000 deductible. Looking for some advice on how to negotiate this or what to do, here are some questions: 1) Besides having my suspension not count against me anymore, I also drove for yet another year with no accidents. Wouldn't it make sense that I get a cheaper quote in that case? Or more discounts than just the $400 from the suspension? 2) I love Amica's customer service and would rather stay with them, but I'm not going to pay this much. What's the best way to go about negotiating? 3) I'm going to do insurance shopping around the area with some agents that were recommended to me, but most companies do not offer combined single limits. What's the equivalent to this $200k policy, $100k/$300k or what? Not even sure what I should get. I'm 23, own pretty much nothing and have never been in crashes. Not sure how much insurance I even need... Any help is appreciated. |

Shop around. Make sure it's an apple to apple quote. Can't really negotiate. I've moved insurance companies a few times since I was on my own policy and each time I go to cancel, they have never tried to lower my rate. They just say, "blah blah blah for your insurance needs in the future blah blah give us a call."
I am in OH though. miiipilot

You need to make a spread sheet with all the deductibles and limits of liability and send it off the several of the major insurance companies in your area. When they reply put it all together and at a glance you can see which is the best for you. About the only other advice I can give you is to keep the deductible high since you mentioned you have not had an accident. I keep my deductible at $1000 and have come out way ahead over the years. Your credit rating is about 1/3 of the calculation of your rates so the better your credit rating the lower your insurance.

Amica insurance is full of WIN!!! The Best!!! < "but most companies do not offer combined single limits'.. The reason why they are the best! I would call and ask for a better rate, but keep the coverage the same.
Going with any of the other top 5 auto insurance companies you are taking a step backwards.
