where to get perf exhaust installed
sylvania BMW quoted me $180 for the install, which I think is a bit fat considering its a 30 min job.
Can anyone recommend a place? i'm in Mascot, so anywhere within reasonable 10k radius Was thinking about TuffyToned - they are local, cheap and know their exhausts but not sure if I'd trust them with the bmw? http://www.tuffytoned.com.au/index.htm thanks

Meh its just an exhaust, and any self-respecting shop will provide warranty for their install... Called HiTech and they sounded pretty confident @$120 per hour
I just don't trust dealerships to do any mechanical work, all they can do is follow service protocols, and they make mistakes with that. A friend is a mechanic and they all get apprenticeships at large dealerships - business is sales - and service is more of an afterthought Will update this thread in a week - still in Darwin till then!

Haha no problems. I'm actually heading there later today so I'll just ask how much they reckon a BMWP exhaust is to install. That'll at least give you a reference point for prices.

Pete had no problem just doing an exhaust swap on my 911 for me. They'll be pulling it off and putting the stocker back on as well in the next few weeks before the car goes in for annual service.

No idea to be honest Pete's done work on my cars for 6+ years. It wasn't much at all, I think it was invoiced as a line item on one of my other cars that is down there. A 911 is more work due to the engine layout and rear bar.
I wouldn't think it'd be more than an hour or so's labour? Best thing would be to call and ask, or shoot Pete an email. |

Didn't make it to the HiTech, Tuffy mufflers did it for me for $80 and took them 20 mins, didn't even have to take off the diffuser! Boy the exhaust is loud!
ordered from www.getbmwparts.com - $US695 and P&H $185 which i thought was very reasonable and sent USPS express - arrived in 1 week. Thoroughly recommend those guys, good communication and no BS like wire transfer only or Pilot freight (yep, **********s P&H quoted at $US375!)

its just another way to increase their overall profit. Its obviously a tough industry and I can relate to selling goods online, you need to be alot more competitive in order to get the sale. When I am on the hunt for new mods I ask around a few vendors on the landed price and compare that because some look cheaper then others but then they sting you hard on the freight..such a **********s.
