2.5L I4T Mustang or BMW 1er F20

Future 2014 Mustang 2.5L I4 Turbo with IRS or BMW 1er F20 2.0L I4T?

I'm a BMW nut, but this new Mustang coming out is going to be a tough competitor, on street and track. Any thoughts?

That was quick. Next gen mustang will have a turbo 4 option with IRS.

lol @ mustang with I4 engine. it's an oxymoron of sorts. i'm sure it'll be a great engine but... "hey what's under that mustang's hood? The V8 or just the V6?" "uhhh.. an inline 4"

but i guess it's true that times are changing.. peak oil!

The new 1 series are atrocious to look at, therefore Mustang for me or an e82 1 series.

Is this like a fight between 90lb weaklings? Are you going to compare CO2 emissions?

Mustang SVO was a badass car, and it's rumored they're bringing it back with the next gen mustang. I think i'd take one of those over the next gen 1 series. Really i'd take whichever car was smaller/lighter and handled better.

SVOs were the hidden gems of the foxbody era stangs.

I'd check one out in the future

What weakling? I can see this 300hp I4Tang keeping up with a 135 on track.

Ford tried using a I4 before. It was caled the SVO. It was a terrible failure. People who look at a Mustang will not consider a four banger when there is also a V8 on offer. This is why Ford offers a V6 & V8. I don't see many people going for the in-line four.

Never driven one, but I know they exist. But when you think "Mustang" do you really think I4? I doubt much of America would be too crazy about the I4, either.

+1. I'm not doubting it's a great engine, but putting it in a Mustang is weirddd

Based on what I know now, I voted BMW. But Ford is getting better and better. Plus, I drove a Mustang turbo I4 in college and a Merkur XR4Ti with the turbo 4 later on. I loved both of those cars enough to at least go drive the proposed Mustang.

I am disgusted with the look and price of the F20. Looking for some early impressions of this 2014 Tang in this tough Bimmer crowd. If the M2 or MZ3 ( (not the F20 135) doesn't jive, the I4Tang maybe an option in the future. Price is a big factor also and the Bimbim can't compete.

I don't know what your price range is but i'd take a bunch of cars over what they're doing to the f20 or the rustang...335, Audi TTS, even 370z
