Bang & Olufsen

Anyone get the Bang and Olufsen sound system in their x5? Any thoughts on it?

I added it without ever hearing it. Hope it was worth the money! Lol

Not on the X5, but had B&O on an Audi S5 I had and it was awesome. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I ordered it as well. I also have an Audi S5 currently and love it. However, the S5 B&O isn't the premium line like the A7/8. I believe X5 is the premium line.

BTW, you get a free B&O earphones ($165 value) if you order the system.

I'm getting the B&O sound system in my M Sport and I never listen to it. I just thought it would be worth the money.

if there's enough in your side pocket...why not...I'm sure its amazing
it's just that paying $4,500 for a sound system isn't something to consider easily...
I just bought a 70" 3D SONY TV for only $2800 which is almost half of that and I'm sure I'll be using it much more...lol
but good for you

$2800 for a 70" tv is a wise investment. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise! Haha

I figured it had to be amazing for the money, only time will tell!

I can't tell the difference between the B/O in my X5 and the Harmon in my 750i. The B/O looks cooler though.

I'm waiting for 4K TV to go down in price, Japan is coming out with 8K TV right now. Anyway, I always enjoy a nice sound system inside my car. I've done a lot of custom sound system inside my cars in the past. Make driving a lot more enjoyable.

Not to go off topic, but the catch with 4k tvs.....we don't have anything that transmits that high of resolution. Bluray is the highest output at 1080, so the tv will only show 1080. Picture can only be as good as what you are transmitting to it! Save your money!

Ouch. I think I paid either $500 or $900 on the S5, don't remember. So, yeah, for 4500 I hope it's even better than that lol

Here is one guy's take on the B&O system in the M5 which is pretty much the same one in the X5.

I agree with this guy's conclusion. When I got my Audi S5, I got the B&O system because it was pretty new for B&O to have a car audio system and I liked their home system sound quality. BTW, ChrisNY, we paid $900. And the audio system didn't disappoint. But, the S5 also has a great soundtrack of its own. And to appreciate that, I have to lower the volume of my audio system, which defeats the purpose of having a B&O system. I think if I were to get another sports/sporty car, I would settle for a decent audio system. I certainly wouldn't pay $4500 for it, because I want to enjoy the engine/exhaust notes. But in an X5 (even in a M-Sport...which isn't saying much for performance, compared to X5M), I don't mind having a great sound system because the role of the vehicle is different. With an X5, I'm here to enjoy the creature comforts, and the silence of the cabin to be filled with impeccable precision and accuracy of B&O.

Sorry, I should have clarified that iam not a huge music guy, I spend most of my time in the car on the phone. I am pretty sure for 4500 there has to be a huge difference.

Also I have only had my X5 for 3 days hahahah

I opted to get it, thought about it whole weekend (HK or B&O). As I had High End Indiv Sound in my X6 (which cost half the price of B&0) I did not want to have less quality sound (B&O uses DIRAC technology as well as BMW High End Indiv.). Unfortunately dealer did not have HK on stock in the new X5 to test it, so went with B&O. Important to note I ordered 30d, so not much fun there when it comes to engine noise .

I got the B&O system as well! Car is still a month out! But I did listen to the B&O in an M5 and the HK in a new 5 back to back. I have never heard music sound so good from a factory installed system. We have B&O in our home theater as well and that system will blow your eardrums before it would blow a speaker! Awesome company! Awesome sound! Worth the money!!! Best of luck!

I too got the B&O system in my M6 GC and it is so good. It is better than the Burmester system in my Panamera and 911. Bass is tight and the soundstage is terrific. Would order it on every car in the future.

I too have the B&O in an S5 and can attest to it's stellar performance!

It will definitely spoil anyone immediately.

That being said, the stereo in my M3 is every bit as good and may have a slight advantage. BMW doesn't use the B&O name on the M3 but I suspect they make it.

By the way, will probably order a X5 but don't see myself getting rid of the S5 anytime soon. It doesn't have the raw power(I have an IND transformed M3) or sportiness of the M3, but with it's all wheel drive, ride like it's on rails, and V8 power, it's hard to beat!

S5 is a beautiful car. Why the red font?
