DP install
Has anyone here done a DYI install of DPs on there 135 ?
I've found all the install videos for the left hand drive vehicles and its seems straight forward but our cars look a lot more difficult with the steering in the way. Anyone done this themselves and have any tips or is it not recommended for the DIY home mechanic? |

My friend and I did it on my car, he is very mechanically minded and I just helped. We used a hoist and It was still a total pain in the ass. It took us a good 6-7hrs and allot of fiddling. He said never again.

I watched my workshop do the install on a hoist and I even helped him out when he needed an extra set of hands. I recommend letting someone else deal with that misery of a job. So glad I didn't attempt to do it myself.

Prestige and BPS are also good options. |

Just had my DP's installed at Accelerate Automotive, very happy with their work, I'd recommend them.
I was expecting a noticeable change in exhaust note but its not that much different, just a nice little rumble when down shifting I guess that's good, doesn't draw too much unwanted attention. Although I'm now thinking a sports muffler, something a bit lighter than the oem one. Again don't want it too loud for obvious reasons. |

Reviving a semi-old thread as I have been reading through the entire history of 1addicts ausforum :P - This thread brought back memories of me DIYing my DP on my s15.
Worst idea to start doing this at midnight on a friday... ended up rounding off the bolts on the stock dp. Had issues with fitment, lining up with the front pipes, high flow cat, catback... +4-5 hrs later with the sun rising, finally installed! But god was it worth it! The difference the 3" down pipes/front pipes does in terms of rwkw and acceleration response was significant and arguably comparable to a tune from my experience! |

A bit off-topic, but has anyone here installed catless DP on a N55?
If so, how have you found the smell/noise and does it draw the "wrong" kind of attention? |

IMO I don't think the smell is that bad.. it's there sometimes but obviously dont let the car warm up with the garage door closed. As for noise, with the stock exhaust it's not too bad, can get loud especially with a cold start. I'd always recommend the high flow catted though.

Spunant, how was the difference in acceleration/power? Did you notice much of a change in cabin noise (i.e. Turbo whine, etc)?

I know the N54 is way harder to install downpipes over the N55. Still had it professionally done.
