A couple of small clarifications regarding the coding instructions I posted:

I believe that the switch to the FLE ECUs occurred starting with the July 2015 production, but let me know if this is not the case.

You guys are awesome... If I did the pre-December coding that didn't really give the tunnel effect, after I do the VO coding, since I did code BDC_BODY and KAFAS already (in my previous attempt), can I just skip that go ahead and just recode TMS and LHM? Obviously, I ask since I want to avoid having to recode values I already did.
Anyways I have a June 2015 build F15, so I'll let you guys know if I have the new or the old ECU. |

Thanks for the confirmation. The reason I believe the ECU switch occurred starting with the July 2015 production is that the ETK database indicates a change in the part number for the LED headlights effective July 1, 2015: I am assuming that the new ECUs are needed to support the new headlights.

Somebody has asked for instructions on how to modify the FA/VO and VO code. Read the attached PDF or watch the video (or, even better, read the PDF while watching the video ).

I did some tests and looks like the tunneling is working!
I did find two main problems: 1) The reaction time is kind of slow, so it doesn't work for windy roads at high speeds where cars will be coming and going quickly. For slower one-lane roads it works perfectly. 2) The car would mistake some road markers like cat eyes and signs for other cars. For example on one road there are cat eyes, reflectors on the center and side crash barriers, and lots of signs. It would constantly think there were other cars. Also stop lights in the distance could be mistaken for tail lights, so it would be creating a tunnel with nothing inside. Very weird. Anyways thanks for you guys who did the hard work! |

I followed all of the instructions and not sure what I did wrong but its not working. I can tell that the light output is totally different under normal driving condition and A LOT brighter than the "old" bright light but the function of moving "brights" is not working. Is there anybody that can maybe do Team-Viewer tonight to help me and see if I maybe overlooked something...? |

First, make sure you coded both of your FLE ECUs. If are sure of the above, then:

Everything is fine: KAFAS2 is what you should have.

I read in BMW's global materials that anti dazzle is a feature for adaptive lights (led and Xeon lights). Do you think this coding will work for Xeon too? Has anyone tried.

The issue however is that the adaptive Xenons that BMW fits to US-bound cars (at least on some car series) do not have the required rolling shutter (or walze in German) within the headlamp that is used to create the tunnel. As a result, if you enable anti-dazzle with these Xenons, while the high beams will split and point away when other cars are detected by the camera, the tunnel is not fully active and glare is produced. Somebody on the other forum actually proceeded to take out and disassemble a Xenon headlamp on his brand new M3 just to confirm that the walze was missing (he really wanted anti-dazzle!). So we know thanks to him that there is no hope to fully enable anti-dazzle on US F30/F80 with Xenons. I suspect that the walze is also missing in the adaptive Xenons fitted to US F15/F85, although I am not aware of anybody who has disassembled a headlamp to confirm.

SOLVED - Codes
From user 2014F15 complete code.....sorry if I missed this PDF in other threads, but it is good enough to be duplicative. This code changes US VO values to ECE VO values, and user are reporting perfect anti dazzle

Alright here we go... after looking at the PDF and determining that my 2015 X5 35d (11/15 built) has the new ECU's, I coded it with Option #2. Taking it for a couple of test-drives I am very please to say that the function itself seems to be working even with the tunnel; The regular high-beam is so much brighter then the stock. The only thing I am not happy with yet is that; when the headlights go into split mode they seem to point up more and dim down the brightness, that I sometimes get this feeling "its on low beam" rather then high-beam. dmnc02 and I had talked about it a little bit and I told him I was going to take some clips tonight...I hope you can see what I am talking about. Apologies for the "amateur" video, only had a iPhone camera handy and filmed one handed while driving . There are 4 Clips # 1-4 at the beginning of the title. JUST FYI if you open it in Youtube set the resolution to the highest. #1 #2 #3 #4 Last edited by MrTookies; 12-19-2015 at 01:08 AM.. |

The thing to keep in mind here is that the PDF in post #64 contains two completely different codings, one for F15s built up to June 30, 2015 and one for F15s built starting July 1, 2015, as the headlights and ECUs that control them switched as of that date. Unfortunately, there aren't too many F15's with the new ECUs around yet and so the second coding was only tested by one forum member and he felt it was working as it should, but your video shows otherwise. I know that all the steps in Appendix 2 are correct, in that they mimic the way the car would have been coded at the factory if sold on the European market, but there appears to be an additional step still missing. Hopefully, we will be able to get this sorted out quickly.

@dmnc02 and @all . I updated the post above with the links. I'm convinced that we will solve this one as well, and I am happy to help as much as possible, especially since I want this to work, BAD!
