How would you change your build?
So some a$$hole hit me a few weeks ago and it was in the exact wrong spot which caused costly damage. Insurance took some time but has agreed to total loss it and I am now ordering a new one. Below are some of my changes curious to hear feedback on what you would change now that most of us have had the f15 for a year. Mine was the first pcd week they did of the f15. Would love to spend $8k more for a 5.0 but not realistic for me w the extra $10k I will be out of pocket on this already. Btw pricing has increased about $1,300 from original build.
M sport xdrive Carbon black Black Dakota Fine line oak Cold weather Premium pkg Driver asst and plus Acc. (New addition sounds really cool and I drive a ton on i95) luxury seating ( upgrade from sport seats I used to have) Enhanced sub and Bluetooth ( this was included last time) Ceramic controls (these get real hot in the summer vs stock plastic but look so much nicer) Harman kardon (best option on car) Space saver Deleted Active steering (I liked it, but not sure I will miss it ). Any comments? On the fence on this delete. It this or acc. I got msport at first bc I wanted blue and that was closest there was. Now they have released imperial blue. Do I delete mport , save few bucks, and go to imperial blue since I am now paying for comfort seats? I do love the msport steering wheel and exhaust though. Really differentiates the car. |

35d - Imperial Blue with Luxury seating and mocha interior package
Chip the 35d if you want some extra HP, and if on 95 a lot, you may like the 35d pull away but miss the 60mph HP. Just my 2 cents |

I really wish I had the comfort seats in the back. I sat in mine the other day for the first time and never realized how uncomfortable they were without them. My old jeeps back seats were 10x better. Wish there were some way to change them now

The options I don't have are: DHP, Nightvision, B&O, Active Steering, Comfort Rear Seats, Parking Assistant, and Ceramic Controls. Don't feel like I need any of them, except Comfort Rear Seats. If I had it, I could have tilted the back seats so kids can sleep easier on long drives.
I would opt out of LEDs, in light of (pun intended) no anti dazzle, and possibly use the proceeds to subsidize DHP, or cost of wrapping an M Sport in something similar to Mineral Silver. Or upgrade to 20". Of course if I had done as I have just said, two months after ownership I'd see a thread titled "Get Anti Dazzle with a $52 Part and Coding". Once you have the sports steering, it is tough to go back to the standard. Swapping later is only something opasha would dare undertake on bored Tuesday night. I felt the ceramic controls in the show room. Felt sturdier, but probably a good thing I don;t have them as I already hear a lot of "stop playing with the buttons in my car". It is certainly a feel, and not a function. My advice is to always over order on options/packages as you cannot get them easily or at all later. |

Thank you guys. Appreciate the responses.
Is DHP really worth the steep price? Can anyone speak to ACC and it being trustworthy and worth the cash? Seems like most people say it works as advertised. Also any comments on the msport suspension option for $900? Last edited by jman26; 02-01-2015 at 02:13 PM.. |

Have the DHP and will ALWAYS order it in the future! I'm really happy that I don't have to lift as much, just crank the wheel!
Also included ACC in the build. You will find that ACC is something you'll grow to appreciate even more, especially with all the I95 driving you do. I am impressed with it more than I thought I would be. $$$ well spent!

DHP is worth it. 6NS (enhanced bluetooth) can be coded. Best of luck with your new order .

I had sport steering wheel and changed it to m sport with paddle shifters, quite easy. Opasha helped me to code so the shifters work , even though the dealer told me they will not work.

I use ACC on 93 into Boston and it works perfectly. The only issue is if traffic stops it will turn itself off sometimes. But in slow traffic it is great and makes things much more relaxing. I balked at the cost when ordering but have no regrets. LED lights are nice only for auto high beams in my rural area but other than that not great. I do wish I got luxury seats.

I have a relatively "basic" M-Sport build (dealer inventory) with Cold Weather, Premium, DA and DA+, HK, and soft close doors.
The only thing I truly miss are the multi-contour seats that were in my F10s. I'd get those again in a heartbeat. I hate driving in traffic, and I don't commute, so while ACC is cool, my money would be better spent elsewhere. |

Go for Imperial Blue - it's a fantastic looking colour - and still quite rare.
DHP transforms the car. It's big bucks but awesome. ACC is great when on the motorway - but can can be a little frustrating at times - especially as it brakes to maintain distance as someone cuts in - but wouldn't buy a car without it. Have fun deciding! |

Have had it on all cars since '08 and love it. Mercedes implementation is better, with smoother adjustments and ability to set the minimum distance to be shorter. you also got pre collision braking with ACC, which should not be overlooked.

Thank you all. Here is the final build I submitted this week
Msport Carbon black Dakota black High gloss rails Comfort seats (upgrade from last) Premium & plus Acc ( upgrade ) Premium Spare Msport suspension (upgrade compromise vs dhp) Ceramic Hk Cold weather Deleted active steering (I did really like this option for daily driving, however it was a bit over responsive on hwy driving and tough to keep car straight at times and money from that was put into comfort seats and msport for or lay $350 more). I will also order m black grills to be added at delivery time. Opasha, I will see you soon. Thx all. Last edited by jman26; 02-03-2015 at 07:42 PM.. Reason: Updae. Cold weather added |

I have a heated garage but I didn't spend the extra on the "cold weather pkg"
My MSport steering wheel never seems cold to my hands. Very thick and soft ...comfortable feel at all times for me. I love that steering wheel ! Rear seats don't get a lot of use so heated seats seem ..not important. My 325 has wipers on the headlights but I'm not sure how much that helps that rain and the car wash can't handle ? So I saved a few bucks by not getting the "Cold weather" but I do think its a great value for people who need those options Last edited by Helter; 02-03-2015 at 06:55 PM.. |

Omar To be clear I actually liked the active steering. It makes the car. lot more responsive and is a pleasure in parking lots. I called it lazy mans steering. A lot less effort in low speeds. I drive my wife's American suv on weekends and have zero problem going back and forth between the two cars. The one issue I had was on the hwy it is to sensitive at high speeds and causes me to not stay straight 100% of time at 80mph. I was on the fence to take it off the build bc I did enjoy having it. However as you said the money was better spent on msport suspension and comfort seats. If I had u limited capital I wouldn't hesitate to add it again. I. Addition when my f15 got totaled I found out it was super expensive to repair and is actually was put me over the top to be a total loss. Actually worked out for me. I buy due to miles I put on so this was a going fwd concern also. |
