Things you like about the F15 X5.....
I was thinking today while ambling along about kip1 and the 'annoying things in the X5' thread. And really there is not a lot, if anything that annoys me about the car. The only thing is perhaps the lead time we outside of North America have to wait for the car and the excessive price we pay. And that is down to BMWs sales & pricing policy
So, with this mind how about a 'glass half full' thread; Things we like about the X5? I'll start it off, and please bear in mind my previous car was the E70 SE with steel springs 1- Quality fit & finish - Far higher than any other BMW I have owned or 'she who must be obeyed' RR 2. Ride - Bloody Great. Love the Adaptive Suspension 3. Sport Mode - FANTASTIC! Used it today on a wet, muddy country road and felt like The Boss 'Born To Run' 4. IDrive & Multi Media - Still the best User Interface - IMO Could go on but will leave it there |

11. The cool looking corona rings are with a more squarish shape than the traditional round headlights. This makes cars look much much better. |

I'll chip in with my favorite "like" on the new X5 - the simple fact that it was my birthday present from wifey dearest. How can a man not like that!?

13. The adaptive LED lights are way smoother than the old style ones on the F02 and F13 - and illuminate a far bigger patch when turning into corners |

Mine has the M standard suspension (springs n shocks) and I like the way it handles for such a big car. Once you understand where the limit of the body roll is, it has a very refined old-school feel to it. But the best part is the torquey 3L diesel that hooks the car up in AWD as you get 29 mpg... In the city....

@Wobbles, must be a good wife, understanding what a man needs. You should get my joke that supposed to follow, haha.
Anyway, my input on why I like the F15 X5. Well, in general, I fell in love with the X5 since the E70 chassis. If the F15 still a couple years away, I would grab the E70 in a heartbeat. The F15 and F16, felt really solid compares to the other BMW except the F01 7-er. Especially the first thing that you touch and hear before you sit in the car, the door. It opens and closes like the older gen BMW. None of those tin can metal where you can feel it in the 2/3/4 series. There is some little step back from the E70, but overall, it is very solid car.

Yes, totally it feels like a solid car and a god machine to drive.
Now, as I haven't owned or used for a longer timespan i.e. a X3 either - I don't know if I would have said the excact same thing about that one. But there's a few things, like the comfort seats which are not possible to get in i.e. the X3, X4 or a 3 series for that matter, even they all fine cars too. Ah the multi contoured comfort seats - in the X5, they are the best thing since sliced bread. I know some of the forum members here have complained about their inability to find the ideal driving position, but for me, the support, the cushioning and the seating position is spot on - like a glass of warm milk with a dash of nutmeg just before bedtime
@r33 - hehehe, I know where you're going with the joke ... now, now, don't get me in trouble my friend, because you'll never know if Her Majesty would ever surf these forums! |

I really like the eager transmission. Quick, smooth downshifts, then right back up after. It also seems to have a hill sensor, and stays in a lower gear when climbing, avoiding the gear hunting on hills. Shifts are so smooth too.
The AWD system is nicely tuned also. Even under power on a wet day, no slipping from either axle, no hunting to find the right split. |

For me, it was like driving cars from two different manufacturers.

I usually park well away from other cars in a parking lot. I was getting out of my X5 at a new store when a women came up to me and told me that I should park a few rows away. She explained that I was parking at the bottom of a slight incline where shopping carts were known to roll down and hit cars. She said that she didn't want anything to happen to such a beautiful car. I guess some people do see the X5 the same way I do...
