Heads Up Display Spontaneously Stopped Working
Has anyone else experienced this? I turned the truck on a couple days ago and it no longer works. I've turned heads up display on and off to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to reset idrive? I'm wondering if that might work. Any other suggestions?
I have also ensured that nothing is blocking the projection so that's not an issue. Thanks |

On the previous X5, you press the volume button down for 30 sec. To reset iDrive. Not sure on the F15. Worth a shot.

In my first F15 twice the HUD adjustments went back to default on two occasions, and the height adjustment changed to so low, that you could not see it unless you sat as close as possible to the steering and had the sear raised to max height.
If you have not already, see if the height adjustment is not messed up and if the reflection is not lurking just so low that you cannot see it. |

Same thing happened to me last week. Both my key and the wife's didn't bring back the HUD. Turned car on/off, lock/unlock, settings in idrive on/off and no change. Next morning I turned on the car and HUD came back. Almost feels like the unit overheated and shut down but that shouldn't be the case. Hasn't happened again since.

Thanks for the input. After 3 days my heads up display came back on again. I tried all of the above suggestions to no avail. Not sure what happened but it's good for now at least.

Happened to me several times, took to dealer and they also had the problem. Could not fix it so they ordered a new unit. Took more than a month to get in. Just as I was going in for it to be replaced, they received a service advisory on the issue. Reprogramed the unit with some software fix and so far, several months and the issue has not returned. I would talk to the service department and ask them about the fix. If they are unaware, BMW of the Woodlands, Tx did the fix for me, have them call them.

This has just started happening to me over the past 7 to 10 days. So far, I've been able to go into Menu|Settings and uncheck, then recheck the HUD option to get it working again...

I would take it into the dealer and have them check it out. Its good the problem solved itself, but...there could be a deeper issue.

Today I try to reset all user setting. 1) Turn the engine of, and start the ignition on but do not let engine start. 2) Find the option, "Reset all user setting", Select ok to reset. it will take 5-15min to complete. It will warning do not change anything during the resetting. 3) After it show resetting success, Start the engine, check the head up display. if its still not work, Turn engine off wait for 30 second. Start the engine again. Now I can be able to select Head up display. |
