Enough of a delay that you cannot punch the horn for gentle nudge, and have to do it a second time, by which time whomever your are trying to nudge no longer may need it and you get the kind of look from them that assumes you are an idiot.

I also told Barb, she'd definitely know if there was a delay.
Sometimes it makes one look like an a-hole because all you wanted to do is just a warning, it ends up being a longer horn, sounds like "Get out of my way" instead of "hey, excuse me".. Or you end up doing twice. It's just disorienting that's all.

"They know about it" per advisor. But for now, this delay is the new "normal".

if you want an ultra sensitive horn, try the horn in a honda lol. I can't remember how many times I honked the horn by accident, it beeps when you just tap it lightly.

No delay whatsoever, I cannot say for MY2015.

I just pressed/slight nudge to horn, ( i.e. a quick polite short honk and not the continuous loud honk for you cut me off) was immediate sound no delay whatsoever. Confirmed for both 2014 x5 and 2013 x3. Did it say 7 times per car, ( now I know why my neighbours don't talk to me and only look at me funny).

The horn imprint is at 3 and 9 o'clock, 2 times each position on both cars, sound was simultaneous as soon as push on horn. However at the 6 o'clock position I sometimes had to push twice, perhaps no sensor there.

I recall mine being immediate or sensitive as sometimes while in parking lot I depress the horn by accident and feel like a dummkopf.

I'll research into the coding folders when I get my car back to see if I can find anything to stop this delay. I know there is coding for trunk delay timing (they removed that or hid that code for the F15).

Update: just drove the car and tried the horn after the software update. It is noticeably better, but not without delay.

Did the software update wipe all your codes?
Also, would this software update be just a mere code change? Something maybe we can spot and try like @opasha said?

It wiped all codes not related to iDrive media....so I finally placed my cable order with r33.

Yeah, opasha 's videos makes it a lot easier to understand and take a dive into coding. If it wasn't for his videos, I seriously won't have attempted coding.

I didn't think the horn delay will be thaaaat bad when I bought my X5,, but now it's pissing me off! On my 640i GC i used to honk by accident but on my X5 I can't even honk on purpose!
