Navi system
Can our Navi systems show speed limits, like my Garmin? If so, can it be coded to show in the HUD?
Thx

42pilot , the speed limit info is available not through the Navi system.
But, it is by the camera reading the actual sign, as I read on how it work. Also, I've read that that option can be coded, depending if your KAFAS camera is sufficient for doing the task.

Your car will need to have the Kafas camera installed. If it doesn't, it may work (relying on data from the navigation database as backup) but this can only be coded with an FSC enabling code.
I believe there's a retrofit in the parts catalog but I've never checked whether it's valid for the US. A number of early coders and I were trying to crack this before it became an official option.

You have it. It's called Kafas2 in your ECU folder files. I took the files from your computer remember. You have the full LED lighting package, which Kafas camera is a BIG part of to allow you to have the high beam assistant and glare-free work correctly. Also, I spent about some time tonight deciphering and comparing your codes to Trojanlaw's codes in the following folders (BDC_Body, Kafas2, LHM2 (both), TMS (both)) after I removed 5AP from his FA (8S4 was already removed from his FA from my previous coding session with him), VO Coded those 6 folders mentioned, and then extracted the entire C:\Data\CAF (the way I did yours) to compare. Believe it or not, there is nothing different in BDC_Body or TMS relevant to the headlights or anti-glare beam coding. LHM2 has only 2 codes of relevance for the Auto High Beam and Anti-Glare (both only deal with brightness settings, however, since this entire folder only relates to the brightness of your LEDs). Kafas2 has about 4 relevant codes that are different other than the regional differences (which I'm not sure need to be coded or not - I'm afraid if I touch any sort of regional code, the other codes dependent upon region like "speed limit info" will be affected since US and EURO speed limit parameters I would assume are different). Either way, I'll be testing these codes with Trojanlaw. I hope they work or do something. I have a gut feeling that it really is a hardware difference between the US and Euro LED headlights.
I want to thank sssmokie and Trojanlaw for allowing me to use and compare their relevant CAF files.

Will that help if you can compare files from car which has Driver assistance plus option and other car which doesn't - to see what codes are different? I don't have DA plus but I do have Driver Assistance and surround view. Would like to have this feature enabled if it can be done via coding opasha I will be starting on coding next month or so. I'm going to request you to do the coding -if it's ok with you before I order cable. My background is technical and I can do lot of stuff myself but my travelling job is taking lots of time. Currently working on detailing the car (Wash, Clay, Polish, Wax/Sealant) since my car was sitting in the lot for over a month waiting for trucking. |

Yes, I will gladly help you code your car. Just buy the cable. I'm pretty sure I sent you the software already. If not, PM me.

I see the PSL reading in HUD is often off (by 5 mph) which means it is using a database. However, it is more accurate than the database used in Escort Live, for example.

As per BMW's standard 'packaging' techniques, depending on where you are it depends on what you need to get it. In the US where most things are in packages you have to have the package as above, in the UK (and probably Europe) where most things are available as individual options, it is a stand alone option 'Speed Limit Display', I think 8TH is the BMW code for it.
