Our old 01X5 and 09X5 did the exact thing as does our current 15X5. I thought it was a "BMW" thing. I learned to live with it

ditto...all 3 of my x5's have done it (07,13,15)

Same wind noise issue on '14 35i. I did complain to my SA. She claimed they made an adjustment to the mirror and did not observe the whistle at highway speeds. Needless to say, the issue is still not resolved. Also had the same observation that a finger on the side mirror eliminates the sound. I had my X5 wrapped including the side mirrors so I was not sure if this was due to xPel slightly altering aerodynamics or whether this was a manufacturing defect. Sounds like the latter.

I'm still not having any problems with the whistling sound from the side mirrors with windows down or up on highway speeds. The womp womp turbulence sound has been a known issue with just about every SUV.. opening the rear windows a little bit helps. Opening the sunroof all the way also causes this air pressure feel.

None of my Mercedes SUV's do this, or my cousins Q7. It's just odd the ones on the lot did the same too

If you can put up with the look (taxi like), these help and actually substantially reduce general wind noise. http://www.weathertech.com/bmw/2015/...ow-deflectors/

sorry I didn't read this carefully...I don't have a whistling sound, I have the loud womp womp sound (is that the technical term )
Only when windows are down...since I rarely drive with windows down its really not an issue. While windows are up, mine is relatively quite for a SUV.

Agreed. Quite popular in taxis in any parts of the world.

Have you tried driving with the cover closed and did it help?
Today, I had the rear cargo cover uncovered and drove with the driver, front passenger side windows down and the sunroof opened to setting 1. At about 40mph, I started to hear the flapping/fluttering sound in the trunk area. I am assuming the trunk cover was flapping due tot he wind.

Never had this issue in my previous X5...
