Seattle folks, does your nav hate 520 bridge too?
I have a 2015 F15 and my nav avoids the 520 bridge like the plague. Even when going between north of 520 Eastside and north of 520 in Seattle it will route me through I90.
I don't have avoid toll roads turned on. Traffic is not a factor either, as this happens late night or when 405 is completely red while 520 is yellow. I have to pick 520 from the alternate routes manually. Whenever I enter the bridge from the East nav will announce 'caution, entering restricted access area'. |

Yes every time. (Five times a week due to work) I don't listen to it since I know my route and time

OK, I want to report this to BMW Genius, they should fix the nav data. I am surprised this did not happen considering the density of BMWs in the Pudget Sound area.

Luckily I know where I'm going but I did try it out on many occasions and it doesn't take you the "common sense" way IMO

Look at the thread I have linked below. I put it up a while back when I had a mysterious "X" spot on the map saying a road was closed, when it was not. Inrix is the data vendor and they resolved the issue for me. BMW was clueless.
Also, note deep in the navi menu there are settings (going from memory) for toll, fastest, shortest, preference for highways, traffic considerations, etc. You have mentioned tolls and traffic but I recall there was more to it. At any rate, Inrix was very responsive. They also have tons of traffic data studies in their scorecard area. All the info is the thread. http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1082510 |

Update: I had an email thread with INRIX and they were very helpful. They were able to reproduce the issue with an i3 they had in their office. It was really absurd because they are right at 520 yet the nav would have them drive down to I90 to get to North Seattle.
However, we concluded that this is not an INRIX problem. INRIX provides traffic info and the Online alternative routes. The Online alternative routes are correct, they go through 520. The problem is with the default route which is done by the BMW nav system. INRIX gave me two contacts at BMW and I wrote them but they haven't responded yet. I also wrote to BMW Genius but they haven't responded beyond the initial confirmation message. I also contacted the dealer (BMW Bellevue) and they confirmed that they can reproduce the problem. They will try to figure out whom to work with at BMW. I will continue to push for a solution - at this point I think we might need a nav data update as the issue is in the offline nav data. It would help however if others who have the same problem could also contact their dealer or BMW Genius. |

Really? I live right by 520 on the Eastside and haven't noticed this issue. My X5 tells me to take 520 to Seattle. I think I only saw that red X once or twice but nothing since.

Will have to test this next time I head up to Redmond. Usually don't use the nav as I know the area quite well by now, but will be a good data point.

BMW just got back to me and said that they are going to fix this via a map update towards the end of November. They recommended we demand to get the update for free from the dealer and contact BMW Customer Care if the request is not honored.

Not fixed still. Once I jump on it, it's fine.
