WTF with the Diesels?

I have been looking to test drive one so I can order a Diesel for a while and I cant seem to find one in my area. My dealer cannot even order one as they have no allocation?? He is trying to push me to a 40e and I dont even want it

Because of the delay in production there is a backlog of diesel orders and most of them are going to Europe because of the popularity of diesels there. At least that is what I've been told by my dealer.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me. He had some build slots available but they were well into April for a May/June delivery. If you are willing to wait they should become available again.

I had the diesel and really liked it. I don't think you can go wrong. Fantastic MPG and great performance.

Sounds reasonable. I drove the Cayenne Diesel and it was a blast to drive, so I've been wanting to drive the X5 diesel. I'm a die hard BMW guy and think the tech inside the BMW is way better. No one even has a loaner I can drive LOL.

If you've driven diesel's before.... Find a dealer with an allocation, and place the order. Hands down the best vehicle I've ever owned/driven. The torque is amazing and the transmission is butter smooth. Not to mention the 28 avg mpg thus far. Love it...

I'd change the thread title to DC Area Diesel Owners and see if someone would let you test theirs. The community here is friendly and I bet you can get a member to meet you for a test drive.

Advanced reply/write lets you edit the title.

I agree! I can't believe how much I love my 35d. It's my 7th SUV and by far the best! The diesel powertrain has a lot to do with it.

Or you can always test drive the 535d for the feel on the engine.
