Side Steps for X5 M Sport?

Hi all

Just got my new X5 3.0 Msport, very happy with it, but the better half is having trouble with the height. Has anyone fitted side steps to this model?

Thanks

Martyn

You can, but it wont look very good, as the running boards are plastic and not painted, hence why people order xline along with it.

I believe getbmwparts has it for sale.

I think it may look decent. Black under step like black m performance sticker on molding under door. Love to see. I actually wondered same thing.

Well I tried explaining it to SWMBO who at 5' nearly falls out of the car. Plastic steps are out of the question, and it will be a pain getting them out each time. I did tell her that I am sure there is a way to add steps, goodness knows every other SUV has them , with about 3 variants. So now I am being held to it....

Besides fit issues........It won't work because it won't create a step. They are the same height as the cabin floor...basically, a protrusion and not a step.

Phantom38 Same dimensions as my better half. Too late in your case but I wanted the M Sport so took her with me for a test drive specifically to test out the access. She doesn't have an issue

Funny thing is on my old E70 SE I had to have side steps fitted because she had issues getting in and out. Go figure

Good luck in resolving this one my friend

I have the same issue. My wife found that the running boards made it more difficult to get in and out, because she had to step over them. The "protrusion" was no help. I just help her in and out. she loves the extra attention too

Ok - shown my wife the thread here, and I think we have reached the 'I'm not convinced but let's see how it goes' stage of negotiation, which means that we can now look at any other bits we might like to add instead! Thanks for all your help though
