X5 40d hesitation from stationary?

So Bmw recently recalled my car for a "performance enhancement" and since then I'm getting a hesitation when pulling away from stationary.
Even if I have a tiny amount of forward momentum there's no lag, but as soon as I completely stop no matter how much I press the throttle there's always at least a 2 second delay.
Any ideas?

Is that MY 2014 or MY 2015?

What mode are you in, Comfort, Eco Pro, Sport or Sport+?

Do you have the Sports Auto transmission or the regular transmission?

To me, it sounds like a throttle position sensor error. I assume that, once you get rolling, throttle response is normal. Is this correct? In any event, as paicapo recommends, this is something only for the dealer.

Yeah as long as I don't come to a complete halt everything seems fine

Could well be throttle position sensor then.

Definitely not right, as has been suggested, call the dealer.

So I dropped my car off at the dealership today, hopefully it won't be there too long.
Got a 320d as a courtesy car while I'm waiting.

There was a recall about wheel speed sensors.

Picked my car up from the dealership today, apparently there were no problems, hesitation is still there at every junction however

thestalosj I had a word with a friendly BMW MasterTech who works at a BMW dealership.

Apparently the hesitation is to do with the 'adaptations' in the gearbox. My understanding of the adaptations is that they are a self learning part of the gearbox technology that learns how you drive it and tunes performance accordingly.

Apparently there are notes on the BMW System about this hesitation issue on the F15. He said it is known to add 0.5-1 sec hesitation, which if you are trying to manoeuvre from a stop seems like ages.

It also fits with your original description in that if you are moving forward at all it behaves flawlessly without hesitation.

Sounds like you need to have a word with your dealer again. Let me know if you have no joy and I'll see if I can get more info. Unfortunately the tech works as a dealership in deepest darkest lincolnshire so is miles away from you.

Jokes begin: dealer is telling you that your are light footed and the car has leaned your driving style. And, the same learning area of the controller manages the horn.

I noticed the same with mine recently, not really had much need for the horn until now but now I understand where you're coming from. Press the horn and by the time it has sounded the vehicle you were directing it at has already moved.

I'm going to take my car back to the dealership on Saturday and tell them this info.
I'll let you all know how I get on.

Curious if you switch to sport transmission and than to manual. With M1 gear displayed do you still get the hesitation?

Not that any of that matter or solves your issue, curious if same result.
