Ok, just got home 30 minutes ago after helping my friend finalize the air supply power relay to make the air tank shut off properly when reaching the set 200 psi, and we knocked out the whole dash cam install in 45 minutes (yes, it's a lot easier than people make it look - my friend really knows cars inside/out). The X500 is top notch and beautiful; it's like a mini high quality digital camera. We moved the camera around slightly, and without us knowing, it recorded us automatically in full 1080p front and rear; this is referred to as "Incident Continuous" recording for when you get into an accident. It records everything once feeling the vibration from a collision. I'll play around with it more after I get my car back and upload some live videos later on so everyone can see what kind of quality it really brings to the table. I honestly recommend it. It has lane departure warning, red light and speed light camera memory database built in to alert you, front bumper collision detection warning, and a whole bunch of other great features.
The only thing left is the remaining satin chrome vinyl and a few carbon fiber pieces that need to be reattached - all of which should be done tomorrow. The HQ photoshoot should be in a few days (hopefully this weekend), but I will take good teaser pics with my Canon G16 tomorrow hopefully.

[QUOTE=opasha;17416193]If it makes you all feel any better, he is getting off work soon and we are both going to the garage to finish it all today (even in this snow). I hope everything works out. Here's a teaser to show everyone what zero height looks like before we had power for the tank to put any air into the bags. Ignore the ugly satin chrome missing sections. Those had to be removed to prevent wasting vinyl and are going to be finished up today to perfection:
opasha Looks awesome. You have the patients of Jobe. Excited to see the finished product.

Install guides will help you: https://copy.com/yaAjIbahiZRV9q1m. The second one by nameisjae1 is the one for his iNavi (parent company of Thinkware) and helps with the right fuse box info. You honestly don't have to remove any of the side panels (only need to fish the wires through as best as you can). The liner is easy to get into (just remove the black sealant of the doors and put right inside the liner).

Info is coming. He's taking pictures and writing things up to make it easy to understand. I'll explain further as well when I get the pictures the same way I did with the fender flare write up.
Also, my friend got the air tank issue figured out thankfully. We were sent the wrong amp switch. They sent us an 80A switch when it was supposed to be a 100A switch for a 100A fuse . Also, it wires directly into the A (full circle arrow) on the fuse box sheet. This is for your Auto Start Stop and your ignition (cuts power on and off with the ignition without draining your battery).

Latest Update: I got my car back last night. Overall, it was not up to par, especially the air suspension. It had way too many hiccups and random errors (air leaks and sensor/valve malfunctions). I took it back today, and the stock suspension setup is being put back on. Lesson learned. I will never mod my cars again to this degree. It's not worth the headache, hassle, or great imperfections (there are and were many - I was not at all happy with the end result). This project turned into my greatest regret.

I am sorry to hear what happened with everything, it's just tough to be the lab rat for something as complicated as air suspension. Thanks for taking one for the team !! For what it's worth, the car looks beautiful and the wrap is well done. The color is exactly what I'd put on my car for silver matte color. I definitely want more exterior pictures of the rear section!!! |

opasha The car looks amazing! The wrap turned out perfect and really highlights the lines of the X5. I can't wait to see the completed interior as well. This truly is a unique build.
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are having with the air suspension. Are you planning on troubleshooting the malfunctions to try and get it working or are you just planning on keeping the stock suspension? Have you thought about a stiffer set of springs to help with handling? Good luck with the build.
