Fuel Symbol
Can anyone tell me what this symbol means? It's not always there. I am referring to the dot that moves.
Looks like there are four ways to see how much fuel you have left. Not sure which one to trust. Thanks! |

"The dot (could be White, could be Orange, based on daylight) appears when you have a destination active in the nav system, and is trying to show whether you have enough range to make it to your destination. The range varies, based on your fuel consumption, and decreases as you consume fuel. So, over time, your range bar shortens bringing the end of the range bar closer to the dot. With a far off destination, it is possible for the dot to render to the right of your current range, or perhaps not render at all (too far still)." http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=672075

The funniest and most useful military term, in my opinion. Excellent timing by you.

The 'dot' shows you how much of your fuel range you will use to get to your navigation destination.
Hence, short, 10-30 mile, journeys will have the dot close to zero. Try inputting a remote destination and you will see it move further right and then move left as you cover the distance. Unfortunately, so does the overall fuel range! Last edited by Gilly1964; 02-09-2015 at 04:19 AM.. |
