Driving Modes

I have a question for all of you out there. If you get an X5 and you don't opt for the DHP, do you automatically get the driving modes (i.e. Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Eco Pro)? I'm very curious about that.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you get all of the modes automatically, except Sport+. In the US, Sport+ only comes with the M Sport.

In other markets, like Germany, it is an option for any line/engine.

If you have DHP or M-Sport Suspension package - you will get 4 - Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport and Sport +.

If you get regular suspension - you get 3 - Eco Pro, Comfort, and Sport.

Sport + can be coded - I'm still getting the full details on this - all it does is mess with the DTS (dynamic traction control) and makes your car more track oriented with quicker RPM shifts and more wheel spin.

I spend about 90% in Sport mode...have it set to only stiffen the suspension. Throttle response and transmission shifts remain 'comfort'. The other 10% is spent in Sport+, which is A LOT of fun...especially with launch control. First thing I do when I start it up is click it into Sport...Comfort Mode feels a little too 'cushy' to me, if that makes sense.

I just wish there was a way to code it to default into Sport mode. Not sure anyone has figured this out yet?

How do you engage launch control?

Sport+, shifter in M/S (left position), depress the brake firmly, floor the throttle. An indicator message will show on the dash once its engaged. Then, to launch...release the brake.

Launch control is fun, but completely pointless, lol. It's better to take care of your vehicle if you own it. If you don't, by all means, launch away!
