Driver Assistance Plus vs ACC Stop & Go

Does "Driver assistance plus" have the ability to brake for you in a event of frontal collision?

What i am missing without ACC ? Active Blind Spot detection part of ACC or DAP?

Collision is part of DAP and it can brake the car. I experienced this yesterday.

ACC is fantastic for stop and go traffic. Can bring u to a complete stop. Then push the resume button and off it goes. Paces the car ahead of you. I love it.

I have DAP but no ACC, and I can confirm that the car will apply the brake and alarm during an impending rear ending. I can't tell you if it would have come to a complete stop because when the car braked itself and the alarm sounded, I immediately applied the brake myself also.

Ditto. It was little frightening the first time it happened. There must be some intelligence built in because I've found that its a whole lot less likely to brake for you if you are accelerating (like when you're going way to close to someone's bumper on a passing maneuver - the big car will show on the dash and it will beep, but it won't brake).

I gotta say that I love my ACC and it was worth every penny that I paid for it. I'm a super impatient driver and that has calmed significantly when using this feature. I'm turning on the cruise way more often than I ever had before. Besides the obvious use of stop/go traffic, if there's someone in front of me driving at a less than desirable speed, I turn it on and disengage the 'I have to be in front of him' part of my brain. Very relaxing.

I'm driving a 5-series loaner right now and I really miss it.

Warning Sounds?

Hi all. I have DAP but do not have ACC Stop and Go and wondered about the warning tones/alarms you have all mentioned. I have had my X5 about three months and have gotten the red car in the dash and HUD many times when I am coming up on someone, but have never gotten a tone with it. Have I missed a setting somewhere or just not gotten close enough? I have mine set on the earliest warning setting.

Thanks.

The red car in HUD and dash is a early warning.. if you don't brake to slow down when the car gets too close, the car will make a alarm sound and brake for you ( I am not sure if it will brake for you to a complete stop or not ). This is my experience without ACC stop option but I have drivers assistance and package.

Without ACC the precollision is limited by speed (going from memory, 35 mph), and it does something called City Braking. This is not a complete stop. With ACC it brings you to a full stop. From materials I've read over the last year, I want to say it works at speeds up to 80mph. The manual has a full description of how this works. PDF of the manual is in the sticky threads or you can download it from BMW (in the US).

DA+ uses KAFAS only, while ACC stopping uses both KAFAS and radar.

Thanks, guys. I guess I have just not gotten close enough to hear the alarm go off.

I was travelling at about 35 -40 when mine kicked in. It felt like the was braking really hard and got my attention quick. I applied the brakes, but it seemed as though it would have stopped in time to avoid a collision. I am very glad to have this feature.

on 2014/2015 X6/5 ACC works from a full range of speed 0-135mph.
I tested and it stopped to 0 from 100mph for example. I'd say in an emergency when it happened to me twice already on road, robot brings car to a stop more violently than I would, but it works perfectly even in heavy rain and light fog. heavy fog - not so much, not sure why.

Heavy fog/snow and blowing leaves in the wind can interfere with the radar. Thanks for confirming the max speed for ACC braking.

mine has failed several times in heavy rain. I get an error on the HUD and the green light on dash turns red.

In Finland the only difference between DA+ and the SE DA + ACC is TJA, traffic jam assistant. For some reason it is also cheaper to get DA+.
