M package what do you get?

Building a 35d to order won't get 20" wheels due to living in the pacific North West and there are simply to many cold wet days to have performance tires, we need all season.
That said looking at the build and trying to figure out what is there for $4,500 in the M. I know the areo skirting, steering wheel, sport seats and different 19" wheels along with a reprogrammed transmission ... What else compared to the luxury line? Don't see $4,500 in the above. Would like the X Line but can not stand the grey 19" wheels on anything but a dark color and we are thinking Alpine white ...

So what's else is there and is it really any kind of value at $4,500?
Thanks for your advise in advance!

msport is all cosmetic. Exact same transmission as xline luxury and no line.

MSport Line

This is what you get with the Msport line

2T6 19" M Light alloy Double Spoke wheels (style 467M) style 467M-with all-season run-flat tires

2TB Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles

3MC High-gloss Roof Rails or 3AT - Roof rails in Satin Aluminum

481 Sport seats ( similiar to Multi contour seats but the thigh support is manual and side bolsters don't adjust. I think the upper part of the seat also don't adjust ). I would pay additional for the multi contour seats though

710 M steering wheel

715 Aerodynamic kit

760 Shadowline exterior trim

775 Anthracite headliner

Includes M foot rest and M door sills.

Unique tailpipe design for 6-cyl models.

Launch Control included with sport automatic.

With the M sport line you are given the option to add Adaptive M suspension for $900 which in my opinion is a one of my must have options. You can search this option which has been discussed extensively here on this forum.

So I talked with the service manager today about this and was told that all X5s have the same transmission, there is no physical difference. There is no difference other than software which gives launch control. All have the 8 speed transmission. Others have mentioned reprogrammed, but you can only get that with MPPK, which I had done today, or some other route to my knowledge. The shift points...etc for m line are the exact same as for no line.

I would add that if you want to do any future upgrades such as exhaust, MSport is the way to go. There are a lot more upgrades available for that line.

Really confused between the Luxury line and M sport. About $3,000. not sure I like the flaired fender on the M with 19" wheels but I do like the sport seats better. .... What to do lol.

Chem14 100% accurate. The transmission difference is software and available on everything from 25d to m50d as EUR 290 stand-alone option in other markets. And, there are threads for coding it.

I coded launch control on my x-line successfully. Opasha and I were not successful with getting sport+ coded but I think he got it to work later on other members cars.

I always approach options not as whether they are worth it and/or a good buy ('cause they never really are). Rather, it's whether I'd regret not having xx or yy after the fact and search for ways to retrofit.
For me personally, the more aggressive look of the M-Sport made the $4500 definitely worth it. Shadowline was a must as well, so having it included made it a no brainer. Paddles and launch control are don't care items for me.
Sounds like you should go X-line and upgrade the wheels.

LOL.....I told the boss her car would be M Sport and would look different because my marching orders were "if you are not going to get the Porsche (Cayenne) it better be nice and not like all the other cars in the school parking lot". Low and behold, there are over a half dozen in the school now. And she says "they all look exactly the same".

Any chance since the 2016 models went up $400 for the M Sport that it now INCLUDES the M adaptive suspension? that would be awesome but I fear its not the case. Just don't see what else could justify a $400 price jump for a cosmetic package when overall the car changed less than 1% in price

Looks like it went down $50 based on the price list.
