Does this mean that now ISTA/P will be able to read it if we already have it installed? shawnsheridan, thoughts?

Any official retrofit installed by Dealership will be accepted by ISTA/P. I think an unofficial 6WB retrofit would also be accepted by ISTA/P so long as FA option code and build date is update and FA is written car.

Wow, that is a good news. Unfortunately, this is the only mod that I can't have. 1.5 years left on the lease.

You are the Man Omar!
Would have never have done it with out your help. I really appreciate the time you spent to help me.

I luv the cluster! definitely isn't a cheap mod but its worth it, it really updates the interior. literally drove a couple hours last night after the install just to look at it =)

anyone that's interested in the Multi-Dash definitely contact Chris @ SterlingBMW
along with the Cluster I purchased the Sport Grills and TMPS's and his prices are pretty much the best prices I've found around and his service is excellent.

I owe you big time Omar! Thanks again!

Guys dobyou think I should just ask them to retrofit. What is the risk? What could be different in the 8/14 and later cars?

Its incredible what you guys are doing and with so much dedication.

I had a E46 330i from 2004 to 2008 and I regretted not having sat nav pro. A retrofit quote from the dealer was priced at £3500 for a car that i only paid £28000 for !!!

Can we have some pics from you guys with these wonderful displays?
The different display?
Does PDC come on there?
Video from the cameras?

Come on guys we all love pics !!!!

Kip, my car was built way before April 2014 (that's when I bought it on the lot) and 6WB works perfectly fine for me. I've also coded for everyone who got their car after 8/2014 and also work perfectly fine. So, there are no issues. As long as you have an F15, you're fine. Your dealer/whoever needs a few lessons on their info. There is no risk. The only downside is they won't be able to read your car's data with ISTA/P with the 6WB installed, so you will have to remove it and put back the old cluster (plug and play no more coding required). When this March 2015 is released or if that is the real date of release, ISTA/P will be able to read 6WBs so you will no longer need to remove it when you go for service where they are doing software updates. Btw, keeping the 6WB in is a great way for you to avoid "forced" software updates and lose your coding . I just realized this.

You think retrofit kit wwould still need removal until 3/2015? I have guarantee so I need to use dealer. How can you be sure there is an update coming and that Finland will get it also?

There is no guarantee. I'm simply basing that date off of the PDF you linked us. If your dealer/any dealer does not have ISTA/P updated to allow 6WB within it's coding interface, it will not be able to read your car no matter what anyone tells you. So until that happens, you must remove your 6WB and put your old cluster (Basic or Extended 6WA) back in. Then put the 6WB back in when the dealer is done. Of course, the more you do it, the better/faster you get at it. Shawn Sheridan has it down to 5-10 minutes (if that). I'm sure I could do the same at this point as well. That may seem like a headache to many. Base your purchase on that.

Wait.. so based on the latest news RE: PDF above, we are able to have this digital cluster added as a dealer installed upon delivery of our ordered cars? Anyone have the price for this add-on? Do we have to request for this upon ordering the car or can we go back later and have it installed at our convenience?

Thanks.

No one can answer your question with a high degree of certainty just yet. I have reached out to two dealers now and they are still trying to get official information from BMW and their dealerships that they can pass on to me. Stay tuned and I will update you once I hear back.

I agree with Xeo here... Not to bring down Opasha's awesome retrofitting skills which he did it wonderfully but... I was at the dealer today checking out a few X5's they had on the lot specifically looking for nappa leather seats to get a feel for them. I saw a few X6's and checked them out inside and also looked at the instrument cluster. I wasn't impressed at all as far as clarity and sharpness of the display goes.

Maybe my standards are higher but the display to me seemed very pixelated...Not sharp at all. One thing I've noticed about the BMW is that they lack in the electronics side of their cars...

It's only a matter of time before the display gets an upgrade to resolutions similar to that of the idrive screen or akin to retina.

I agree the display isn't as crisp as we want it but the versatility and functionality of it is far greater than fixed analogue systems.

Can't really agree with your point about BMW lacking in electronics. Just take a look at the options list on x5 or 7 series, it's breathtaking and it all works very well. The idrive is arguably the best in it's class, much of the technology is so well integrated.

Try testing a competing brand and you'll see how far BMW has come in ways of cabin tech. The 6WB might not be as crisp or sharp (how sharp do you prefer? 4k? lol) as you like, but it sure beats the crap out of stock dashboard. I am very happy with my retrofit.

I agree with both you gents about the functionality of the display is very nice and far exceeds the standard dash.. I was just pointing out how disappointed I was to the quality of the display...

I mean they are re-using a display that has been around since 2012 or so (maybe sooner - that's when Shawn installed it on his 5 series before most others). So, yes, I agree that BMW definitely needs to enhance the display to something more premium looking to compete with Audi/Mercedes/Volvo (yes, even Volvo!). The new XC90 display impressed me. I saw it live in person and the touch screen interface is very very smooth for their similar iDrive type panel. Here's their cluster:

The above picture does ZERO justice to Volvo's new instrument cluster. I am very impressed by this vehicle:

Exactly Opasha.. Why must we "settle" for substandard quality from BMW? Regardless, this display doesn't come from the factory (for X5) anyway and we need to pay out of pocket to have it installed... lol.

Question Does this 6WB Digital Display Retrofit works with 2015 X6M?

Just wondering about this 6WB Digital Display Retrofit compatible with 2015 X6M (with Head-up display & Driver Assistance Plus packages)?

Can anyone answer my question? Thanks.

No, sadly, it is not. No M variant is compatible with the 6WB Digital Cluster. wdimagineer answered this a while back when a few were making their M orders .
